The Monstera Albo, also commonly referred to as the Monstera Deliciosa Borsigiana Albo Variegata, is one of the rarest, most sought-after variegated plants in the world. Monstera Albo are expensive because they are incredibly rare and scarce, with their natural genetic mutation occurring in only one of roughly 100,000 specimens. Resulting from a cell mutation, the white areas on the leaves of an Albo lack any chlorophyll, the compound responsible for coloring leaves green. A lack of chlorophyll, which also allows plants to photosynthesize and grow, means this sought-after beauty matures slowly.

Because they are a slow grower and are difficult to successfully propagate, we may only have a single Ablo available at a time. To further complicate the availability of this beauty, propagation does not guarantee the cutting will carry on with the same cell mutation. Alot of cuttings end up reverting to plain green as they mature.

Although this beauty is tough to grow from a young age for the reasons outlined above, she is totally worth the effort! Once established, her needs are more manageable and just needs proper care much like the Monstera Deliciosa.
